Work-life balance is not about equal time. It is about space. Ma teaches: (1) create transitions between work and life — a walk, a change of clothes, a cup of tea — something that marks the boundary, (2) protect your non-work time from work's intrusion — the email that can wait until morning should wait until morning, and (3) leave gaps in your calendar — the unscheduled hour is not wasted time. It is where you recover the capacity to be present.
