Perfectionism kills more writing than lack of talent ever has. Wabi-sabi teaches: (1) finish the draft imperfectly — a flawed finished manuscript is infinitely more valuable than a perfect unfinished one, (2) let the rough edges show — the most compelling writing has texture, hesitation, and humanity, not polish, and (3) publish — the tea bowl with the crack is more beautiful than the one still on the potter's wheel.
