Mizuakari (水明かり) describes light reflecting off water — the shimmering, shifting illumination that dances on ceilings near rivers, on faces near pools, on the walls of rooms that face the sea. Like komorebi (light through leaves), mizuakari names a specific quality of light that most cultures observe but do not name.
