Every trip ends. Mono no aware teaches: (1) be present to the unrepeatable — this street, this light, this conversation with a stranger will never happen again exactly this way, (2) don't over-document — experiencing a place through a camera lens is not the same as experiencing it through your eyes, and (3) let the return be gentle — the melancholy of coming home is mono no aware. The trip was beautiful because it ended.
