Japanese elementary education prioritises group awareness, shared responsibility, and empathy. Children clean their own classrooms. They serve each other lunch. They are asked 'how do you think they felt?' rather than 'don't do that.' Western education prioritises individual achievement, self-expression, and critical thinking. Both systems produce capable adults. The question is which qualities you believe matter most.
